Edinburgh: Honeymoon 2014

Image
We spent three days Edinburgh, a fantastic old city. I’m in love! We left Belfast and dropped off the rental car early in the morning and flew with easyjet into Scotland.  We took a bus from the airport which dropped us off smack in between Old Town and New Town.

Eating Irish: Honeymoon 2014

I didn't really get into detail about the food and places we ate during our stay. I'm also a little self conscious about taking photos of my food. James and I have been eating out each night of the trip so I'll do a quick recap of the very Irish dinners in Ireland & Belfast in one post!

Belfast: Honeymoon 2014

I have to apologize to the city of Belfast. We stayed there for two nights but we spent so much time outside exploring the Northern Ireland coast that we didn't really get to see the city.

Northern Ireland: Honeymoon 2014

Image
After driving through Ireland to get to Belfast, it was time to tour the North Coast of Northern Ireland. We drove out of Belfast in search of our first stop The Dark Hedges. Two rows of Beech trees growing along a road, meant to be an impressive entrance to the 18th Century Stewart family home Gracehill House. Also another Game of Thrones filming location. Filmed for season two when Aria Stark escapes Kings Landing. We arrived around noon so they weren't dark at all but still very beautiful.

Driving Ireland, Cliffs of Moher and Tollymore Forest: Honeymoon 2014

We left Dublin in our little rental car the next day (Monday am) We drove on a regular two lane highway all the way west across the country and eventually made our way south to the Cliffs of Moher.  The roads once we started going south turned into regular (by our standard) roads. Two lanes going opposite directions. They are placed between large stone walls that were built way before cars existed, and the speed limit is was crazy high. I was scared to go 40! I had to pull over a couple times to let someone in a rush pass me. The countryside was beautiful and it didn't help that we kept slowing down to see the sights. We passed a few lonesome castle towers and then a real castle! Dunguaire Castle built in 1520.  After we enjoyed this quick stop, we kept winding along the roads to the cliffs. By the time we got there the rain had just let up. We went up the visitor side first to get some great views of the cliffs.  It was REALLY cold so I bought an Irish wool ...

Dublin: Honeymoon 2014

After a day and a half in Boston, we finally left the US late Saturday night to kick off about 12 days of Honeymoon. We landed to the sunrise on Sunday morning in Dublin.

First Stop Boston: Honeymoon 2014

Image
The first stop on our Honeymoon is to drop Lady off with my parents in Boston. She'll keep my longtime puppy-dog Kobe company and follow my parents around like the good velcro dog that she is. The weather is warm, crisp and the leaves are changing. She will have a great time while we're gone. Kobe is 13 years old and has lost weight, it is never a good sign in older dogs. He's so handsome and he and Lady get along well so I hope he enjoys her company. Kobe Puppydog Ladybaby Update: Kobe Passed away a month after our Honeymoon in November 2014. I'm glad we made this stop and got to see him while he was still feeling good.
